The final fight sequence was supposed to be real, not a premonition. But the producers demanded to stick with the book's anticlimactic ending. Bill Condon said that he liked the grittier and darker ending where most of the Cullen family would die, but author Stephanie Meyer disagreed and insisted to end the film her way.
