Jon Peters, who executive co-produced È nata una stella (1976) with then lover Barbra Streisand, was credited as a producer, but only because he owned the rights. Warner Brothers and Bradley Cooper told Peters to completely stay away from any filming, did not include his name amongst the producers who would be potential nominees for an Oscar if the film got the nod for Best Picture, and stated before the film's release (when critics detailed Peters' history of sexual harassment) that they regretted it was necessary to work with him at all. Bradley Cooper simply described the positive atmosphere of production by saying, "Fortunately, Jon wasn't there."
