A bidding war occurred for the film rights to Saroo Brierley's story and book "A Long Way Home" which production house See-Saw Films won based on the company's track record for quality films (e.g. Il discorso del re (2010), Shame (2011), Top of the Lake - Il mistero del lago (2013)) and the producers' commitment to making a film that was authentic and international in ambition.
