In the film, the Batmobile has its own car phone. In the United States, car phones were first introduced in 1946. They were developed by the Bell System (1877-1982), a conglomerate which once dominated the telephone services industry in North America. Car phones were largely phased out in the 1990s, when mobile phones became more affordable.
