The post-credits scene was originally meant to have Tony Stark blasting off into space to meet the Guardians of the Galaxy. Iron Man was going to have a cameo role in Guardiani della Galassia (2014) (an homage to his being the Guardians' latest member in the comics), but this was scrapped when Robert Downey Jr. said he may not reprise his role as Tony Stark in the future. Instead, Dr. Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) appeared in the post-credits scene.
