Despite their marked differences in nationality/ethnicity, background, personality, and moral alignment, the three main female characters of this film are all capable women in positions of authority/expertise who more than hold their own in male-dominated fields. Elektra King actively takes over as CEO of her father's global empire, Christmas Jones is a resourceful rising nuclear physicist who is the International Decommissioning Agency representative for the shutdown of inactive Kazakhstan missile silos, and M is the steely Chief of of MI-6 who becomes more involved in the story than ever before. In the book The Authorized Guide to the World of 007, this film was praised for having some of the strongest- written female characters in the franchise up until that point in time.
