Despite the film depicting Parker dying alone at a hospital, Parker was with his wife by his side, and he died in a hospital after collapsing in his home from a stroke. Parker's wife is never shown onscreen. Presumably, at the beginning of the film, the 'Get Well' balloons seen in Parker's hospital room are from his wife.
