Although the film itself wasn't owned by WB between 1956 and 1996 (its owners during this time being a.a.p., United Artists, MGM and Turner), the "Casablanca" trademark continued to be owned by WB. The record label Casablanca Records was founded in 1973 with financing by WB's record division and originally distributed by it. WB also produced a short-lived TV adaptation of the film in 1983, two years after MGM and UA had merged.
