After production was complete on the film, Martin Campbell was hired to direct the 1995 James Bond film "GoldenEye" and later, the 2006 reboot "Casino Royale". "GoldenEye" bears some similarities with this film: The GoldenEye satellite, Bond getting shot with a tranquilizer dart, Boris Grishenko secretly working for Janus, Natalya taking over a helicopter and Alec Trevelyan falling to his death, in the hand to hand combat with Bond.
