In the film's climax, Sully sacrifices his bag of gold to save Nate. Believing to be leaving empty handed, Nate reveals he had stashed some of the gold in his pockets and hands them out to Sully. This is a similar ending to the first video game, only with the roles reversed. In the game, Nate apologises to Sully that they are leaving empty handed, only for Sully to reveal a chest of gold he had acquired and brought with him.
