Joss Whedon complained that this movie was guilty of 70s era sexism; with Bryce Dallas Howard being the "stiff" and Chris Pratt is "the life force". This would be replicating the old male/female dynamic on shows like Cin cin (1982) with Ted Danson and Shelley Long; Sacco a pelo a tre piazze (1985) with Daphne Zuniga and John Cusack; and Star Wars with Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford; as well as countless Spencer Tracy-Katharine Hepburn movies. But what's happening in Jurassic World is actually clearly a role reversal of the first movie; where we have fiesty, humanistic Ellie Sattler (aka Laura Dern) battling the stiff, bookish Alan grant (Sam Neill).
