In the comic book, Frank's wife Marie and their children (son, Mark; daughter, Francine) were murdered for witnessing a Gangland execution; the Castles were enjoying an afternoon picnic in New York City's Central Park. The film changes this: Frank's wife Julie - along with their two daughters, Annie and Felice - are killed by a Mafia car bomb meant for Frank.
