In 2012, Oscar-nominated filmmaker Scott Hamilton Kennedy made a full-length documentary about four real-life aspirants at The Los Angeles County High School For The Arts entitled "Fame High" in homage to the 1980 Alan Parker original. The ultimate irony is that the documentary which followed the four students from their freshman year through to their graduation was poorly reviewed and did poorly at the box-office, in relation to it's fictional counterpart.
