During the sixth season, Dixie Carter joined the cast as Phillip Drummond's love interest (and eventual wife) Maggie McKinney. Carter left the series at end of season seven reportedly due to on set clashes she had with series star Gary Coleman (she was replaced by Mary Ann Mobley). Carter reportedly found her stint on the series unpleasant and refused to talk about it in later interviews.
