Two of the main cast members from this show went on to serve jail or prison time for serious legal charges. In June 2011, Sam Jones III (Pete Ross) was sentenced to one year in federal prison and three years of probation for conspiracy to sell the prescription narcotic oxycodone. He began serving his sentence in December 2011 and was released two months ahead of his sentence, in October 2012. In April 2018, Allison Mack (Chloe Sullivan) posted a $5 million bond that allowed her to be released from jail (but remain under house arrest) pending her trial for sex trafficking, sex trafficking conspiracy, and forced labor conspiracy for her alleged role in helping to run a secretive "self-help" organization called "Nxivm". In April 2019, Mack pleaded guilty to racketeering and racketeering conspiracy, but she had not yet been sentenced as of December 2020 (the delays were first at the request of her defense and then due to the COVID-19 pandemic). In June 2021, Mack was sentenced to three years in prison and a $20,000 fine. A May 2018 Hollywood Reporter article reported that Mack was in fact first introduced to the group in 2006 by her Smallville costar Kristin Kreuk (Lana Lang), who was already a member of the organization.
