In 1996, Kenner released a toyline based on this hit animated series. The first Wave came out in 1996 and featured various Superman variants that were seen in the animated series as wells as a toyetic Lex Luthor and a Brainiac figure. In 1997, Wave 2 came out to retailers and features many non-show accurate toyetic Superman variants and one villain, Darkseid. These were generally harder to find than Wave 1 and didn't sell well as animated Batman figures. It was originally planed that Wave 3 would be exclusive in Europe, but Diamond comics distributors came to the rescue for American collectors working out a deal with Kenner to see them released in the United States. Wave 3 was available at comic book shops an included Bizarro, Metallo, Supergirl and 5 non-show accurate Superman variants.
