Earlier versions of the screenplay showed Bond (Pierce Brosnan) being much more flirty with Dr. Christmas Jones (Denise Richards) throughout the story. However, this was distracting from the tension between Bond and Elektra and was reduced in later drafts. The final shooting script and film still have some playful banter here and there between Bond and Jones, but their relationship is more purposeful and business-like. At least until the very last scenes (Christmas in Turkey).
