In 1995, eight re-cut and condensed (to make it "faster and funnier than ever") compilation episodes were broadcast on BBC 2 as "The Best of Not The Nine O'clock News". They were then released on two separate videotapes (and later on DVD) as "The Gorilla Kinder Lingers" and "Nice Video Shame About The Hedgehog". The original broadcast has never been released on DVD and has rarely been repeated. This is primarily because the original episodes in their entirety lampooned events that were in the news at the time.
