On one of the buildings in Portorosso is a sign that reads "Vicolo De Sica" which references the neo-realist director Vittorio De Sica who directed classics such as The Bicycle Thief. Another sign on a building reads "Piazza Calvino" a nod to Italian writer Italo Calvino, and Giulia and Massimo's surname "Marcovaldo" is a shout-out to the name of a short story collection penned by Calvino. And the bar in town is called "Pittaluga" a reference to Italian film producer Stefano Pittaluga who began his career as a cinema owner in Enrico Casarosa's home town of Genoa. There's so what looks like a fake poster which translates as "A Summer To Remember." It may be a fun reference to how this movie is the story of a summer that Luca, Alberto and Giulia will never forget.
