To prepare for his role as Kingo, Kumail Nanjiani went on a strict low-carbohydrate diet and exercise routine by working out with Grant Roberts, a trainer and former Mr. Canada. Nanjiani would work out five days a week for three months straight at Granite Gym in Beverly Hills, aiming to gain 20 pounds of muscle, wearing wires for electronic stimulation that would help target muscles.
