There are possible references to Guerre stellari (1977): When Krall is flying his swarm ship through Yorktown with two others flanking him is reminiscent of Darth Vader flying his TIE fighter with two others flanking him while defending the Death Star, and the design of the Yorktown Central Plaza shows similarity to the design of the Death Star itself.
