The announcer has to split their attention during the show. They wear a head-set during the show and in one ear they're hearing themselves in addition to the actual recording of the program, and in the other ear, they're listening to a cacophony of voices and sounds coming from the director's booth. That coupled with the crowd of yelling spectators, makes this truly a tough job.
