The scene where Sam plays the guitar while singing in the countryside, is similar to The Sound of Music (1965), where Maria does the same thing to the Von Trapp children. The Sound of Music (1965) is Seth MacFarlane's all time favorite movie. In fact, Seth loved the movie so much, Family Guy (1998) played cutaway gags based on the movie.
