For research and preparation for his role in the movie, actor Nicolas Cage looked up some of his more unconventional past press interviews. Much of his alter ego Nicky's look was inspired by Cage's appearance during those interviews, as well as the wardrobe he donned during the promotion of Cuore selvaggio (1990), which included boots, black jeans, and a black leather jacket.
