This is the first movie in the live-action Transformers franchise that Frank Welker reprised his role as Megatron, inheriting the role from Hugo Weaving. He had previously auditioned for the role of Megatron in Transformers (2007) (losing to Weaving) and provided the voice in Transformers: Beginnings (2007), Transformers: The Game (2007), and the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009) video game.
