(at about 52:00 into the film) When Coach talks to Jensen Ames about having previously qualified for parole, he states "Got as far as the gate. They got a name for it: something-or-another syndrome." The mental illness Coach is referring to is named Post-Incarceration Syndrome, and is similar to PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder). Sufferers of this illness have reported symptoms including (but not limited to) anxiety, panic attacks, confusion, paranoia, flashbacks and sleep disturbances. Many sufferers also struggle with adapting to the outside world as society has progressed. While they have been incarcerated, they have also been unable to keep up with this progression and feel isolated as a result.
