Angry Anderson's character "Ironbar", was named in a mocking reference to Australian politician of the 70s and 80s, Wilson "Ironbar" Tuckey, who got this nickname because he was charged with using an iron bar to beat up an aboriginal man who was being held down. Tuckey had a reputation as petty tyrant who wasn't afraid to fight dirty, similar to Anderson's character in the movie.
