The main plot and all the iconography around Superman can be re-interpreted as an updated version of Jesus, adding details of another classic heroes as Hercules: as Jesus, Superman is sent by his father from another world (Krypton) for inspiring a better human race. His Kryptonian name, Kal-El, is a Hebrew word that it translates as "voice of God". His father's name, Jor-El, is also a Hebrew word that it means "God will uplift" (Jor-El uplifts Kal-El with all Krypton's knowledge in the space capsule to send him planet Earth, and resources to create years later Fortress of Solitude). His mother's name, Lara, derives from the old Latin 'laurus', what it means "bay laurel plant", that in the Greco-Roman era it was used as symbol of victory, honor or fame, and as embodiment of victory and strength (Superman is a man of honor that becomes famous by his moral and physical strength). Krypton derives from Greek word 'kryptos', that it means "The Hidden One" (Superman lives hidden as human under the name of Clark Kent). His earthly name foreshadows his personality, after Clark is an old English word derived from the Latin 'clericus' that it means "scribe, secretary or be educated", and Kent an old English word from the original 'cennan', that it means "tell, make known", united all as "an educated scribe tells to make known"; his work as journalist (an updated version of scribe or clerkship). Jesus and Superman rise in a little town with their foster parents as one of them, despite the fact that they are from a different world. As child and teenager Superman, as Jesus, he's bullied and misunderstood by another children since that both are outsiders inside their communities. Time later Superman leaves his foster mother to meet again his true father, missing from the world to understand who is him and which his mission in the same way that there are a few missing years in Jesus' biography. As Jesus, Superman introduces himself to the world at 30 years using his superpowers (it means, "miracles" or gifts of the gods) to reveal him as a man capable to be extraordinary for amazing the human race. His fight against Lex Luthor is a hint of the Jesus' fight against Roman Empire, since that Luthor wants to establish his own empire for destroying USA's West Coast using a missile to impact in San Andreas' fault to sink it in the Pacific Ocean and create a new West Coast ruled by him, although an alternative interpretation would make Luthor in a figuration of Satan (an evil mastermind who lives to lie and deceive, owner of an underground crime empire in plans to attack the surface and conquer it). As Jesus by Roman Empire and Satan, Superman suffers torture by humans (Luthor uses kryptonite against him) until to be almost dead, to finally "resurrect" and ascend the skies to save the world (Superman flies around the planet to revert the destruction caused by the missile launched by Luthor), being recognized as a savior of the world. In the documentary Secret Origin: The Story of DC Comics (2010) Superman's creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster appear as archive footage in old interviews where they two explain how Jesus' figure and the classic heroes from the mythology inspired them to create Superman.
