Corey Burton, who voiced Shockwave in Transformers (1984), was approached to voice Jazz and Brawl. He turned Brawl down, as he didn't want a blink-and-miss voice role, and later expressed bewilderment that he would be considered for the "black character" Jazz. He was later approached to voice Shockwave in the third film, but turned it down as he'd done that role too many times.
