The scenes set in the conveniently deserted hospital at night may be inspired by Il signore della morte (1981), where the killer Michael Myers is causing a killing spree in an almost empty hospital. The director of Halloween II, Rick Rosenthal claimed that he once had a personal experience with his wife where they were in a hospital late at night, and it was completely deserted, save for a few doctors, nurses and patients. This didn't stop the scene from being a subject of criticism though.
