In Egyptian mythology, Set (also spelled Setesh, Sutekh, Setekh, and Suty) is a god of the desert, storms, disorder, violence, and foreigners. In Ancient Greek, the god's name is Seth. Ra employed Set on his solar boat to repel Apep, the serpent of Chaos. Set was also lord of the red land (desert), where he was the balance to Horus' role as lord of the black land (soil).
