In the climatic scene where Billy and Stu confess to Sidney that they were the Ghostface Killers and have framed Sidney's dad as the killer, Sidney demands their motive. Billy says that they don't really need a motive, like Dr. Hannibal Lecter and Norman Bates. Except, if those two lunatics really did their research, they would know that both Lecter and Bates had motives for why they killed people. Norman Bates was psychologically damaged from the abuse he had suffered from his mother and Lecter eats the rude people.
