The way Peter's face turns red after being attacked by Mr. Thomas McGregor (played by Domhnall Gleeson) slightly resembles an injured rabbit from the British animated movie La collina dei conigli (1978). That movie is also about rabbits in England and stars John Hurt, who previously collaborated with James Corden on the animated film adaptations of Il Gruffalo (2009) and The Gruffalo's Child (2011).
