Julian McMahon, who played the key role of Jess LaCroix in the three first seasons of the series, announced in January 2022 that he would leave the show after creative differences with showrunner and executive producer David Hudgins. Creator Dick Wolf commented: "We are saddened to see Julian leave. His portrayal of agent Jess LaCroix has been a key factor in the success of FBI: Most Wanted. We will miss him and we wish him the best in his next chapter." His character was decided to be killed in the line of duty when he was looking for an abusive junkie, Harley Ross, who wanted to locate and kill his former girlfriend Lucy Carver. Jess LaCroix was replaced for a new character, Remy Scott, played by Dylan McDermott. With his departure actors Jen Landon (Jess' girlfriend Sarah Allen), Terry O'Quinn (Jess' father Byron LaCroix) and YaYa Gosselin (Jess' daughter Natalia 'Tali' Skye LaCroix) too were removed from the show.
