When King Harold gets zapped by Fairy Godmother's wand, turning him into a frog, at first, all you can see is a pile of clothes and armor, making the characters think he is dead, then, you hear a croak. After that, The Gingerbread Man says: "He croaked." "Croak" is, as well as the sound a frog makes, a slang word for "die" or "death".
