At the time of filming, the Rat Pack was not yet the solid block of tight friends they appeared to be in legend. Peter Lawford and Sinatra had to patch up toxic differences between them because of Lawford's relationship with Ava Gardner before and after Sinatra's rocky marriage to her. Dean Martin and Peter Lawford were also not particularly fond of each other. And Sammy Davis Jr. did not begin as Sinatra's good buddy, but was part of Humphrey Bogart's original Rat Pack before Bogey died and Sinatra assumed the leadership role.
