Gaspard Ulliel wasn't officially announced in Moon Knight. In July 2021, his British talent agency, Hamilton Hodell, added "Moon Knight" and "Anton Mogart / Midnight Man" to his CV listing on their website. Fans of the comics noticed it and shared it on social media, and it quickly spread to the press who made articles about it. Hamilton Hodell ended up removing both Moon Knight and the character's names from Ulliel's CV on their website on July 26, 2021. Disney+ and Marvel did not confirm nor deny Ulliel's appearance in the series until his death, when a spokesperson for Disney referred to him as a "friend and colleague" in their note to Variety. May Calamawy also said in an interview for French magazine Premiere in February 2022 that she had shared a couple of scenes with Ulliel in the series. Ulliel wasn't featured in the trailer released before his death neither on any kind of promotion released afterwards.
