The running joke of the series is that Ryan Howard (BJ Novak) shares his name with a baseball player of the same name. In "Night Out", when he is trying to gain access to a nightclub, he says "Ryan Howard the baseball player check again". However, in "Promos," the real Ryan Howard appears as himself.
