JP Dutta originally wanted Aashif Sheikh to play Mathura Das in the film but things didn't work out at that time Kulbushan Kharbanda then recommended Mamik Singh to play the role and he signed him for the role but the way Dutta was treating him was not liked by Mamik then a fight broke out between them Mamik walked out from the film Sudesh Berry finally got signed for the character.
