Clarence Gilyard Jr. later worked with one of Andy Griffith's lifelong friends R.G. Armstrong, on an episode of Walker Texas Ranger (1993). While filming in Griffith's real-life residence of Roanoke, North Carolina, Gilyard met Armstrong on a 2-part episode, where he played Sheriff Parks's partner, in involving a case of duck hunters.
