In their 1985 song "Last Time Forever", which was about domestic violence , British pop group Squeeze sampled two lines of dialogue from the picture. The first sample was the line "A momentary loss of muscular coordination" from the scene where Jack Nicholson is describing how he broke his son Danny's arm when grabbing him angrily, and later in the song a sample of Shelley Duvall screaming "NO! NO! Jack, please!" can be heard.
