Batman: The Animated Series, like the other 1990's Warner Bros. cartoons, used a variety of international animation studios to outsource work. The best animation in the series is generally agreed to be in the episodes done by TMS Entertainment, the Japanese studio that animated Akira (1988). Much of the worst animation came from the South Korean studio AKOM. Bruce Timm and other crew-members have been vocal in their distaste for AKOM's work on the show. Timm even salvaged their work on Batman: The Cat and the Claw Part II (1992) and Batman: Prophecy of Doom (1992), while 80% of their original work on Batman: The Last Laugh (1992) had to be reanimated. Akom's work on the episode Batman: Cat Scratch Fever (1992) was so bad that Bruce Timm had them officially dropped from the production.
