The scene in which Doc explains to Clara that he is from the future is similar to the scene when Marty meets the 1955 version of Doc for the first time in Ritorno al futuro (1985). In this movie, Doc says to Clara: "I'm from the future. I came here in a time machine that I invented. And tomorrow I must return to the year 1985." In Ritorno al futuro (1985), Marty says to Doc: "I'm from the future. I came here in a time machine that you invented. And now I need your help to get back to the year 1985." In both scenes, the explanations are immediately rejected.
