The trio in the film expected their hike to last for a few days, but find themselves stranded in the woods for longer than expected. They compare themselves to the castaways in the sitcom "Gilligan's Island" (1964-1967). In the sitcom, a group of 7 people (2 crewmen and 5 passengers) set sail for a three-hour tour. They are shipwrecked on an uncharted island, and spend several years trying to return home.
