This is the second film franchise starring Mike Myers in which the sequel grossed more in its first two weeks of release than the original did its entire box-office run. The first was Austin Powers - La spia che ci provava (1999), which grossed more its opening weekend than Austin Powers - Il controspione (1997) did altogether.
