(Around 21 minutes) the sailor who tells Will he knows of a ship with black sails next to an Island where he trades spices for "delicious Long Pork", is a subtle hint to the fact that he is aware the Pelegostos are cannibals. Long pork is slang for human flesh. He then takes Will to the island, knowing full well that he will most likely be killed and eaten. This also then explains the behavior of the brother who refuses to take Will all the way to shore, fearing capture and death himself.
