In this show, Selina Kyle/Catwoman is rich and mysterious, unlike the dominatrix from the comics or the overworked, stressed-out secretary from Batman - Il ritorno (1992). Early models for Catwoman looked more like the costume from Batman (1966). Catwoman's alter ego, Selina Kyle, was depicted with blonde hair to closely match Michelle Pfeiffer, the blonde-haired actress who portrayed Catwoman in Batman Returns. Bruce Timm liked the movie's all-black costume, but was terrified of doing a character in all black. Timm had a hard time pulling off the design, eventually creating the all-gray costume instead, which inspired Jim Balent's 1993 comic book look for Catwoman.
