The black/gold paint and the skull and crossbones of the F-14 Tomcats of VF-84 'Jolly Rogers' Would be used in the anime series Macross (Robotech in North America). Known as Skull squadron led by Commander Roy Folkker, and later by Captain Rick Hunter.
