This film takes a number of liberties with costuming. The stillsuits of the Fremen were designed to capture all moisture and included a mask that covered the mouth. This would have been difficult on film, as one could not see the mouths of characters when speaking. Another liberty is in the stillsuits being of a dark color. This makes the actors much more visible to the camera, whereas the suits in the book were of a color that made it easier to hide.
