Padmini Kapila signed the film as Dev Anand was very fond of her. A week before the film's shooting Dev sent Padmini a note saying was getting pressure from Zeenat Aman to drop her (Padmini) from the film . Dev had grown very close to Padmini and Zeenat supposedly saw this as a personal and professional threat . Dev use to call Padmini "Pammi" When he dropped her from the film , Shabana Azmi was signed. But the name "Pammi " remained.
